July's Warrior of the Month: Stacey "Mountain Mover" Eberhard

Why did you start CrossFitting?
I was in a rut with my workouts.  I have focused on running for the last 7 years and it got to the point where even a 4 hour run just didn't seem like it was doing anything for me.  I went through 2 years with plantar fasciitis so running was getting even more frustrating.  CrossFit is a different workout every day. It is never boring!!  I really like that I can get a really good workout in just 20 - 40 minutes.

Favorite workout/exercise?
FLIPPING TRACTOR TIRES!!!

Least favorite?
When I first started Crossfit I was afraid of pullups, pushups, wall balls, handstand pushups, kettlebells, sandbag getups, and anything with the barbell!!   I would check the website the night before so I could decide if I was going to go do the workout. If it seemed hard I would find excuses like "I can't do this" and talk myself out of going. Because of the constant positive reinforcement from Coaches Sarah and Jacob I quickly changed my mindset and now look at every workout as a new challenge.  Now I tell myself, I CAN do this or I'm going to try this!!  I love that I am getting stronger.  There isn't a workout I will skip any more just because it sounds hard!

Athletic background?
I love most sports.  I started playing sports in grade school and continued playing in Jr. High and High School.  I played softball, volleyball, basketball, track and golf.  I use to love water-skiing and rollerblading but now I'm afraid of breaking something!  I took up running marathons after Reece was born 7 yrs ago.  I've done about 15 full and ultra marathons and at least that many half marathons.  These days most of my time is spent watching my kids play the sports!

What are your goals within the next year inside or outside of the gym?
I just want to continue to get stronger.  I love the results I'm seeing. I actually ENJOYED doing some handstand pushups the other day because I was getting closer to the ground than I ever have!

Advice for people just beginning CrossFit? .
You CAN do it...because for every time you say you “CAN'T” Sarah is going to make you do a burpee!!
