Coach Jacob recaps Festivus for us:

What a fantastic day in the cool, fall Peoria air for Festivus. Below is a recap; first for the Gents:

Kyle placed  in the top 1% nationwide, 3rd out of 450 athletes and 2nd locally.  Dick Trickle was 7th nationwide, Jason Walker top 20%, Chase top third, and Jeff Johnson well into the top half. Frank, Junior, and Kent all easily maxed out the thruster ladder, ripped off 225 lb deadlifts with ease, and represented the gym with substance, style, and in Junior's case,  flair.

In the men's novice division, our very own Scott Schultz and Dan Forman placed 1 and 2 locally and in the top 10% nationwide. John Garvin was in the top 35%, and Doug pleaded with the judges to give him more weight on his deadlift bar to make it halfway difficult. Jeff Froelich rounded out the group with a 30 lb PR on a thruster. No big deal.

Onward to the Lizzadies:

First the intermediate division:
Sara and Kate K both competed in their first intermediate competition and represented the gym quite nicely, both tearing up the thrusters and 21 calorie row. We're hoping the flood gates will open for more to females join them in the near future.

In the novice division, Andrea placed in the top quarter nationwide, closely followed by Amy (top third), and Amber top 40%. Paige, Casey, and Diane bumped up their strength and endurance numbers from previous events, and Kate S, Lindsay, Melanie, and Becky got a taste of competition, all of them PR-ing in weights and WOD times. In an unbeknownst side event, Melanie won the competition for most costume changes with a whopping six.

Ask anyone that went -- Festivus was a great atmosphere and fantastic time. Special shout out to Kelli for lighting the fire and encouraging people to compete, and to Ericka, Shannon, Pops, Brooks, and the Bohnsack family for taking the road trip plunge and supporting the troops.
