CrossFit is all about functional movements and sandbag getups are about as functional as it gets. Functional movements utilize mid-line stabilization and multiple joints. Trapped beneath a heavy piece of furniture? A CrossFitter that does sandbag getups is more likely to come out alive, and less likely to need Life Alert. So like James Brown always says, "get on up!"
