Great work with the ultra functional sandbag getups on Friday! Crossfit preaches functionality of movement. One may ask, 'What is the textbook definition of 'functional movement'?

Functional movements take place in multi-planes of motion with the use of multiple joints. These movements require the firing of multiple muscle groups in various positions, ranges of motion and varying intensity to achieve a common goal.

In real life, it means getting out of bed in the morning, chopping wood, marching in snow, hauling around heavy kids, and trekking up stairs without a hitch. 'Constantly varied high intensity functional movements'=CROSSFIT.

More functional movements to choose from tomorrow. Don't forget physical therapist and Crossfit extraordinaire Beth Dessner will be available for consultations tomorrow from 9-11.
