Two days ago, actress Kathy Bates announced she was undergoing a double mastectomy for treatment of breast cancer. Each year it is estimated that nearly 200,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 will die. Next month is Breast Cancer Awareness month.

In support of the month-long awareness campaign, WCFM will host "Helen Meets Grace" - a friendly competition during which your WOD does more than just work your muscles. WCFM and participants in "Helen Meets Grace" are raising money for Barbells for Boobs and Mammograms in Action, which fund mammograms for underserved women. If you wish to participate, please see our event info page. You do not have to be a WCFM member to participate; however, you will need to know how to properly perform a clean and jerk.

For those unable to participate in "Helen Meets Grace," we are collecting donations through our team page, through individual participants in "Helen Meets Grace", and at the gym. We'll also be collecting loose change in the empty water jug on the front desk, and we'll be accepting cash or check donations. Save a pair. Save a life.

The Big 24 is back. This will be our third trip through this cycle. This WOD is HEAVY and UNTIMED. Therefore, be bold (but not greedy) with your weights (strive for prescribed), and focus on what you're doing. Practice perfecting your technique and form without the pressure of the clock.
