What a great showing for Festivus!
We came, we WOD'ed, we conquered with PRs across the board. We also stopped for several bathroom breaks on the way back from Peoria. We had quite the number of competitors this weekend. Here is a person-by-person quick recap:Men's Intermediate
Gary: 3rd place overall with a 430# deadlift for 5 reps.
Tyler: PR's on the 2000 m row and 5RM deadlift to finish 4th overall
Pegboard: Torched the burpee/toes-to-bar WOD and missed the finals by 2 secs on the 2000 m row.
Taelor: Just missed the finals and complete a sub 7-minute 2000 m row.
Kent: Completed a 5 RM deadlift at 405#, which is not too shabby.
John: improved his multiple rep deadlift max by 25#
Purdont: Torched the burpee/toes-to-bar WOD and deadlifted 25# more than he expected.
Bass: He unfortunately tweaked his back; however, he still rowed much faster than he ever has!
Men's Novice
Cody: 1st place overall with his lowest finish in any event being 2nd place. Can anyone say, "dominate"?
JD: He made the finals by placing 5th overall after 3 events, but he had to leave early. He pounded out 290# for his 5 RM!
Dave: He rowed at least 30 seconds faster than ever and performed consistently throughout the competition.
Jerry: He completed at 5 RM deadlift at a weight close to his 1 RM deadlift.
Women's Intermediate
Sara S: Despite having reservations about competing in the Intermediate Division, she placed 2nd overall, earned in part with a 3rd place finish in the 2000 m row with a time of 8:16.
Shannon: Placed 4th place overall, earned in part by placing 4th in a WOD that contained mainly cardio stuff :)
Tracey: Placed 5th overall, and torched the burpee/toes-to-bar WOD with a 3rd place finish.
Karla: Completed the 5 RM deadlift at 185#, which was her old 1RM.
Paige: Competing for the first time as an Intermediate, completed a sub-9-minute 2000 m row and PR'd on her 5RM deadlift at 185#
Women's Novice
Brenda: Placed 5th overall, earned in part by placing 2nd in the 5RM deadlift at 225#.
Trisha: Completed a 190# 5RM deadlift, which is not bad considering 135# was her 1 RM a couple months ago.
Courtney: Competing for the first time eva, she completed her row in under 9 minutes and reached a 1RM deadlift (195#) on her last attempt for a 5RM.
Angie: She torched the burpee/toes-to-bar WOD to place 4th for WOD 2
Bruja: She bested her recent 3RM with a 5RM deadlift at 185#. She unfortunately failed in her quest for most costume changes ever (last year's record was 7)
Becky: This deadlift machine banged out a 5RM at 190#.
Congrats to all our competitors and thank you to everyone that came out to cheer on our competitiors!
Additionally, if you have been hesitant about entering a CrossFit competition, please talk to anyone that has competed. None of them will tell you that they regretted the experience. The camaraderie and sense of accomplishment that accompanies these experiences are priceless. We encourage each and every one of you to get out there and see what you can do in a competitive environment. We promise you will surprise yourself, and you WILL have FUN! The next opportunity to see some of our athletes in action (besides during a regular WOD) is at the Corridor Clash in Iowa City on Saturday, November 15th.
