Super Deadlift machines!
***WE WILL CLOSE AT 11 AM THIS SATURDAY, MAY 19th.***
Don't sleep in too late and miss your chance at some bad ass Saturday Funday WOD-ery!

Hey y'all. Not only is it National Bike to Work Week, it is also National Women's Health Week. 2012 also is the 40th Anniversary of Title IX. I thought I would share some interesting facts about this significant piece of legislation that forbids discrimination in educational activities, including sports, on the basis of gender.
  • The 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta often were called the "Title IX Games" because the competitors included the first generation of women athletes to come of age after the legislation had been widely implemented. That same Olympics, 99 U.S. women earned gold medals.
  • In 1972, females received 29% of bachelor's degrees, 19% of Master's, and 11% of doctorates in the fields of science and engineering. Today, women earn 50% of science and engineering undergraduate degrees (including yours truely!), 45% of Master's, and 41% of doctorates.
  • The Act accounts for up to 40% of the increase of 25- to 34-year-old women in the labor force between the years 1980 and 2000.
  • In 1977, 3% of colleges offered women's soccer. Today 93% offer this sport to women.
  • A March 2001 General Accounting Office study found that 72% of those colleges and universities that added women's teams did so without cutting any men's teams. Football and basketball continue to consume the majority of men's total athletic budgets in Division I-A schools (72%) forcing the other men's programs to compete for the remaining funds, with the women's program also getting only a small share of the total athletics budget (despite this California State lawmaker's ill-informed statements to the contrary).
To cap things off, here are some CrossFittin' women looking amazing at what they do. Who says there isn't beauty in strength?

And just to reinforce my belief that you should throw out the scale because your body mass index (BMI) is a bogus number, here are some pictures showing how little your weight has to do with your body fat measurement.
